York United Triumphs 3-1 Against Cavalry

York United 3–1 Cavalry: Nine Stripes bounce back big at home

York United needed a response after that 4–0 smack from Halifax, and they delivered. The first half felt slow until Cavalry ripped a rocket from distance, but Diego Urtiaga came up clutch with a reflex save. Then came the breakthrough, a cross to the far post and Adonijah Reid slid in, cool finish, 1–0 Nine Stripes.

Second half was pure showtime. Leo Lopez dropped a free kick masterpiece in the 59th, ball curling around the wall, kissing the post like a Coca-Cola bottle curve. Later, Botello cut through traffic to set up Max Ferrari for a late banger in the 87th. Cavalry grabbed a penalty goal from Fraser Aird, but by then York had already locked the W. Final: 3–1.

The win pushes York to 32 points, sitting 5th in the table, just behind Cavalry on 33. Huge confidence boost at home, and next up is a rivalry clash with Atlético Ottawa on September 14. Cavalry head back to Calgary to face Halifax a day earlier. Catch all CPL action live on OneSoccer.

York United venía de un golpe duro, ese 4–0 contra Halifax, y había que responder. El arranque fue tranquilo hasta que Cavalry sacó un bombazo desde afuera del área, pero Diego Urtiaga se lució con un manotazo de reflejos felinos. La segunda mitad fue puro show. Al 59’, Leo López pintó arte con un tiro libre, balón que giró alrededor de la barrera, acarició el poste y entró con una curva de Coca-Cola. Más tarde, Botello armó la jugada entre piernas rivales y encontró a Max Ferrari, que metió un golazo al 87’. Cavalry descontó con penal de Fraser Aird, pero el daño ya estaba hecho.
